Fringe Festival &  Gorrdondolmi

24 – 25 - 26 June 2011

The  first ever Katherine Fringe Festival weekend has an action packed program starting with a free fire show in the townsquare on Friday evening.

Saturday 25th will see the town come alive with random street performers and a variety of performances in Ryan Park that will include various static and roaming street performers.  Local artists will be providing a range of music from the classical to rock.  Enjoy the ambiance of the lovely Ryan Park community markets  and purchase  a piece of unique territory Aboriginal art.

Also on Saturday you can take up the challenge with Territory  Bocce Champions at a game of Bocce in the town square followed by the fabulous indigenous band  ‘Iwantja.’

On Saturday night kick back under the stars and enjoy the wonderful locally written and produced multimedia puppetry  performance  ‘Gorrdondolmi’ telling the Dagoman story of the rainbow serpent, creator of the underground springs and waterways in Katherine.  This will be followed by  Darwin band Jigsaw Collective and the sell out Melbourne Comedy Festival show ‘Drags Aloud’ who have performed to record breaking crowds at the Melbourne Comedy Festival and Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The Tick Market/Lindsay Street venue will feature beautiful lanterns made by Darwin artist Techy Masero and textile creations by local artists Kerryn Taylor and Adrienne Kneebone. Bar and food for sale.  Entry $10 pp.

On Sunday 26th  The NT Writers’ Centre will be presenting ‘WORDS ON THE FRINGE.’ The program will include panels,
